Use the Advanced Options dialog to set advanced Encoding Options.
MP3 File Defaults
Type: MPEG (default) identifies the file type associated with your MP3 files.
Creator: MPgP (default) identifies the application that will be used to open and play your MP3 files.
Use selected player's Creator when selected, tells AudioCatalyst to use the MP3 Player you have selected in the AudioCatalyst program for playback of your MP3 files. When you double-click an MP3 file, the player you have selected in AudioCatalyst will automatically open.
Set Copyright Bit when selected, sets a flag to show the bitstream is copyrighted. The Copyright Bit information can generally be found during playback in an MP3 Player's information dialog.
Set Original Bit when selected, sets a flag to show the clip is the
original bitstream. Since the XingMP3 Encoder generates a new bitstream from source
material, the original bit should always be enabled. The Original Bit information can
generally be found during playback in an MP3 Player's information dialog.
High Frequency Mode when selected, enables encoding of high frequencies
(up to 20kHz), for CBR bitrates 112k and VBR settings of Low/Normal and above. Note: Only
a small percentage of users have both hardware that can clearly reproduce high frequency
sounds and exceptional hearing to distinguish those high frequencies from lower
frequencies within the music.
MPEG Algorithm
Let Encoder Choose when selected, chooses the best output sample rate when encoding files that will make the highest quality MP3 file. When Let Encoder Choose is selected, the Encoder evaluates the input Sample Rate, the selected target Bitrate, and the Channel Mode then determines what Sample Rate will produce the highest quality MP3 file. Xing recommends you always use the Let Encoder Choose option.
Some examples of how the let Encoder Choose feature works:
Use Let Encoder Choose when encoding MPEG-1 files that do not need to be CD-quality, such as a voice-only file. For example, when creating a CBR MPEG-1 file at lower bitrates (32 -80 kbps), the Let Encoder Choose option reduces the Sample Rate by half, allowing the Encoder to produce an MPEG-2 file. MPEG-2 files produce higher quality files than MPEG-1 for lower bitrates.
Use Let Encoder Choose when encoding a file with a non-standard sample rate such as 48kHz. The Encoder will match the Sample Rate instead of changing it to a standard Sample Rate (such as 44.1kHz).
Use Let Encoder Choose when encoding a file with an MPEG-2 Sample Rate that must be encoded as an MPEG-1 file with a high bitrate (160kbps and above). The Encoder will upsample the Sample Rate to an MPEG-1 Sample Rate.
Unless you are familiar with MPEG specifications and have
specific reasons for choosing the MPEG 1, Layer III or MPEG 2, Layer III options, we
recommend you use the Let Encoder Choose option to create the highest quality file.
MPEG 1, Layer III when selected, uses MPEG-1 specifications to encode your MP3 file.
MPEG 2, Layer III when selected, uses MPEG-2 specifications to encode
your MP3 file.
